Two clarifications on that table. Height is measured to the lowest thing hanging in the space, not to the drywall: the International Residential Code sets its own minimum that way, requiring 7 feet of ceiling height for habitable space and 6 feet 8 inches for portions of a basement that are not habitable space, while allowing beams, girders and ducts to project down to within 6 feet 4 inches of the finished floor (IRC section R305.1, and your state's adopted edition may differ, so confirm locally). So the practical question is not whether the equipment fits in the room. It is whether a boxed, awkward, heavy object fits through every opening between the curb and the room: the door width, the hallway, the stair width, the turn at the bottom of the stairs, and the landing.
